Sammy David Shepherd was found guilty by a jury of sexual abuse of a child under the age of sixteen, I.C. § 18-1506. The sole issue on appeal is whether Shepherds right to a fair trial was violated when the states witness unexpectedly volunteered that Shepherd had also molested another young man. For the reasons explained below, we vacate the judgment of conviction and remand the case for a new trial.
